Montrose, Dundee Stars and Dryburgh all picked up wins in a thrilling opening round of group games in the Scottish Futsal League – Dundee East Region Cup.
Dryburgh opened proceedings at DISC on Thursday night with a 4-3 comeback victory against Dundee City.
Goals from Sean Snee, Euan McIlvenny, Paddy Dolan and Peter Hine cancelled out City’s Christopher Robson, Jamie Weir and an own goal. City were, at one point, up 3-1.
In the other Group A game, Dundee Stars saw off Dundee Celtic 4-2 to go top of the standings in an impressive free-flowing display.
Louie Anderson, Rudolfs Seilis, Faisal Ahmed and Chris Thomson all netted. Alex Gibb and Dominic Duffy struck for a depleted Celtic.
In the final game of the night, Montrose took the initiative in three-team Group B, beating Dundee West FD 5-3 thanks to John McIntosh and Ryan Sivewright doubles and a Mark Middleton strike.
Callum Rae and a Steven Brown double counted for West FD in a heated affair.
With champions Dundee West the other side in Group B, Montrose’s win was a vital one.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday night Perth’s Super League side Fair City Santos saw off Dundee University 2-0 in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
