Montrose are toasting a successful season after they capped it by downing Dundee Stars to lift the SFL-Dundee League Cup at DISC.
They saw off Stars 2-1 on penalties after a tense 40 minutes which ended in a stalemate.
Player of the Match Bryan Deasley netted the spot-kicks which counted for Montrose as captain Shaun Henderson got his hands on the trophy.

From the start, it was a very tactical and hard-fought game with both teams competing in the right spirit.
Deasley peppered the Stars goal from distance early on in the first-half to no avail before Dundee keeper Darren Clarkson pulled off a super double save to deny Andrew Black from close range.

Gavin Ogilvie made a difference for Stars when introduced, making positive runs with the ball at his feet and nearly teeing up Zak Benmalik to break the deadlock with a header that went narrowly wide on the stroke of half-time.
In the second 20, Clarkson continued to a foil an increasingly frustrated Deasley, who had a terrific game up front, and put his body on the line late in the game when Ryan Sivewright came careering goalwards to try to force a loose ball over the line.

Montrose finished normal time the stronger and held their nerve to win the shootout 2-1 and pick up the club’s first silverware as Deasley fired in the winning penalty.
