There were an incredible 38 goals scored across four fixtures on matchday 11 of the SFL Dundee at the Lynch Centre with plenty moving and shaking up and down the table.
Thursday night saw Dundee Celtic and Dryburgh play out the clash of the evening as Celtic’s star man Alex Gibb hit a magnificent seven.
The match was ebbing back and forward until Gibb went on a tear to net seven goals in his side’s 10-3 win. Two terrific free-kicks were the pick of the bunch.
A Flynn Duffy brace and Dom Duffy strike also counted for Celtic. Dryburgh’s goals were scored by Charles King (2) and Matthew Ross.
Dundee West continued their march to the title with the simplest of 7-0 wins over bottom side Dundee City.
Jamie Reilly turned on the style to notch four times in a deadly display of marksmanship, with a Declan Gallagher double and James Thomson also counting for West.
Montrose returned to second in the table with a 5-1 victory against Dundee Stars.
Andrew Maich (2), John McIntosh, Panos Trizoglou and Ryan Sivewright were on target in a clinical performance for Ronnie Costello’s side.
Joel Rocha netted Stars’ consolation.
And it was a case of Saints becoming sinners as Dundee University got the better of St Andrews Uni 8-4 in the final game of night, ending St Andrews rich vein of form.
Dundee Uni were rampant, pressing high and full of energy as Sam Pirrie led the way with a hat-trick, ably assisted by Arran MacPhee (2), Anthony Darlington, Patrick Smith and Ross Colquhoun.
St Andrews fought to get back in the game but a Benjamin Lintern double, Griffin Godsick strike and an own goal wasn’t enough.
The league will now take a mid-season break before a return to DISC in the new year.
