MD 11: Final flourish before winter shut-down

St Andrews University (blue) have won their last six league matches.

SFL-Dundee is gearing up for a final 2018 hurrah as the teams prepare for the final matchday before a well-earned Christmas break.

Dundee West will be looking to make it an impressive 10 wins from their first 10 league matches as they take on bottom side Dundee City but it’s the battle of the students that catches the eye on Matchday 11.

St Andrews University have been sweeping aside all before them in recent weeks with a winning run that stretches back six games to October 11 to propel them into second spot in the table.

Dundee University, meanwhile, have some catching up to do after their free week last matchday and also a bit of revenge after a 4-3 defeat to their scholarly rivals back at the start of St Andrews’ winning run. Four points separate them in the race for second.

Third-placed Montrose will be aiming to take advantage of any slip-ups in that match as they take on Dundee Stars who have been improving in recent weeks. A late Dundee Celtic winner last week edged them out in a 4-3 defeat but four points from their previous two games mean they’ll provide a test for Montrose.

The first game of the evening at Lynch Sports Centre sees Dundee Celtic looking to build on that victory and move up the table from fifth as they face a toiling Dryburgh side who have lost six on the bounce.

Matches get under way at 6pm until 10pm with spectators welcome at Lynch Sports Centre, Dundee.
