Matchday 10 of SFL-Dundee saw four thrilling clashes take place in the first week of fixtures at the Lynch Centre.
Dundee West and Dundee West FD, arguably, played out the game of the night as league leaders West edged out their development side 5-4.
A Jamie Reilly brace and goals from Declan Gallagher, Jordan Timmons and Jimmy Webster counted for West with Steven Brown (2), Michael Wallace, and Francis Bryceland notching for FD.
Wallace’s goal, in particular, was a highlight as he flicked the ball up, spun and smashed it home on the half volley.
Dundee Celtic battled it out to overcome Dundee Stars 4-3 with Jordan Elder (2) and brothers Dom and Flynn Duffy scoring for Celtic.
Adam Shaffi, Louie Anderson and Lewis Thomson goals were consolation for Stars as they competed well in an entertaining game, which they were often kept in it by substitute goalkeeper Damian Kunc’s heroics as usual keeper Intisham Ahmad was busy being influential outfield.
Montrose came out on top over Dundee City by the same scoreline. John McIntosh struck twice, while Andrew Black and Ryan Sivewright were also on target for Ronny Costello’s side. A Jamie Weir double and Christopher Weir strike weren’t enough to earn any points for City as they prop up the table on four points.
In the final game of the night St Andrews University downed Dryburgh 7-3 with an Akira Bowler hat-trick leading the way.
The rangy Saint was on top form as a Benjamin Lintern brace and goals from Matthew Redman and Griffin Godsick did the damage for the uni side.
Dryburgh were spirited throughout, though, and managed three of their own through Liban Dida Dida (2) and Charles King.
