The SFL-Dundee makes its yearly pilgrimage to the Lynch Sports Centre this week as the battle for second place continues to heat up.
Just four points separate fifth-placed Dundee Celtic and St Andrews University in second spot while runaway leaders Dundee West enjoy an eight-point cushion at the top of the table.
Last season’s champions are in firm control of the division as they bid for another crack at the Super League and take on their second string Dundee West FD in the 8.10pm kick-off on Thursday night.
With a 12-1 victory already this season, another one-sided contest is expected to continue West’s 100% record this campaign.
That’s left a whole bunch of sides battling it out for second place.
Montrose kick off the season’s action at Lynch in the early kick-off against Dundee City knowing a win of five goals or more would put them above St Andrews for a short while at least. However, despite being bottom of the table, City will be boosted by their opponents recent form with two consecutive defeats at their back.
Dundee Celtic are back in action after their week off last week and can put a sizeable gap between themselves and sixth-placed Dundee Stars with victory.
Stars, however, have been resurgent recently with last week’s win over Dundee City propelling them up the league table and can move to within a point of Thursday’s opponents.
Then the final game of the evening can see St Andrews Uni make it six wins on the trot if they can see off the challenge of a Dryburgh side that has struggled in recent weeks.
