There’s a real Tayside taste to the Scottish futsal squad that’s been announced for this weekend’s away double-header against Gibraltar.
The two matches, one on Saturday and the second on Sunday, is the national side’s first outing since facing Northern Ireland over the summer.
Former Partick Thistle and Albion Rovers footballer Scott Chaplain took the reins as national team coach earlier this year and has announced a 15-man squad to head to the overseas territory.
Among them are two Dundee-based players with nine hailing from Perth sides.
Dundee Futsal Club goalkeeper Darren Clarkson will be joined by former team-mate Lee Cameron, who has recently signed for Montrose, scoring a hat-trick on his debut last week in the Dundee League.
Among the rest are former Dundee FC player Scott Mollison (Wattcell) and ex-Dundee United pair Fraser (FC Santos) and Scott Smith (PYF Saltires), both of whom play for Broughty Ferry Juniors.
Also in are Perth-based Saltires trio Kyle Ballingall, Brad Steedman and Connor McLaren while
FC Santos’ Gordon McGillivray, Ryan Robb and Dayle Robertson will also travel.
Ben O’Hanlon (Pro London Futsal Club), Kevin Hagan (TNT), Martin Cassells (TNT) and Neil Laurenson (Wattcell) are also in.
Dundee Stars U/12 goalie Evelyn Brown was their Player of the match in their 6-0 loss to Kirkcaldy Redskins at Dundee Ice Arena.
